Speedscrap June 30th ( well for me it is the 30th)

Todays layout took me 58 minutes - It took me about 15 or so to make the grid template itself. - Then probably 20 minutes to place the photos some of which required processing - and then the remaining time was finding a suitable kit and placing the papers.
I decided on my Wetlands VC because of the very natural colours of the papers in it .



The photos were taken over 2 trips to Waiotapu in April and then again in June . Its a great place for photography - I took about 300 photos over the 2 trips.

Pick of the Pack - June 29th - California Dreamin by Oreo

I love the soft dreamy nature of this gorgeous layout by Oreo - I love how she has framed the photo with the swirly element and love the frame poking in from the left for added effect - Here are her notes on this layout which you can view and comment on here

I love this kit, maybe because I love watercolors but have only dabbled in it, but I love "painting" with this kit. It had everything I needed except for a butterfly and I had to have a butterfly, so went to a kit I bought I long time ago for that and a ladybug. Can you find it?

Speedscrap - June 23 - Flight

Here is my speedscrap layout which took the full hour - most of which was finding the quote and getting it on the page . I wish I had Tina Chambers skill in Typography!!

Extraction of the bird was quite easy because it was on a clear blue sky so I just used the select color range tool and then used the refine edge tool to tidy it up

2 layouts

Here are 2 layouts I made as samples for use of the new Butterfly Overlay stacks


This was the sample layout I made for my new product Butterfly Garden Overlay Stack
To create this layout - I layered the sky background over a pale blue background - I put it in multiply blend mode first and then duplicated it and put it in normal blend mode at 30% opacity.
Over that I layered the swirly flower layer in hard light blend mode and the coloured rays layer in multiply blend mode
I extracted the photo and added a fairly hefty but soft drop shadow to blend it better into the backgrounds
The garden layer is also added twice - once in linear dodge blend mode and once in normal blend mode at 80% opacity.
Finally The butterfly layer is added and then duplicated and reduced in size and rotated so one butterfly appears to be on her hands



This was teh sample layout I made for my new Butterfly Blue overlay stack which was a customer request. ( product can be found here )
To make this layout I placed 2 copies of the photo over the background layer - the bottom one i desaturated and used Colour burn blend mode and the upper one is colour and normal blend mode at 70% opacity.
I then layered the jacquard vignette layer twice - once in multiply blend mode and then above that normal blend mode at 50% opacity
The swirl layer is in divide blend mode above that - followed by the butterfly layers which are all at 50% opacity normal blend mode

Butterfly Blue Overlay Stack

This 12x12 overlay stack includes a background and 5 layers to help you create a magical butterfly filled scene for your photo.
Stack the layers in any order you desire and and have fun experimenting with different blend modes and opacities on each layer to create a unique result each time.  Use the included background or one of your own for a variety of effects.
This set comes with 3 layers of butterflies to allow you to scatter them as you desire around your photograph. Butterflies come both shadowed and unshadowed to allow for more versatility in blending

Layout - Lions

I couldnt wait to scrap these photos of the lions at Paradise Valley Springs in Rotorua. I really didnt think any of these would turn out that great because they were taken through wire fencing, but I had a few that turned out really well!!-
I used my Wingspan Value Collection for this kit proving its not just for the birds!!
