Day 5- Hooray for Hollywood
Today was Hollywood day - we started with breakfast in the hotel, then proceeded in the car down to the real main drag of Hollywood - Hollywood Bvd. We started off by spying several stretch limos waiting outside the Kodak Theatre and we wondered if there were some major stars that we were going to get to see - sadly it was some kind of event for the California public health service!!!- decidedly NOT exciting!!.
We did all the typical things - Graumans Chinese Theatre, the Avenue of Stars and a drive through Beverly Hills to see some of the homes of the stars - and WOW - some homes they are too.
Later we drove up Laurel Canyon and along Mulholland Drive - its fun to see places in real life that youve seen in movies and on tv.
Later with a stroke of luck and a bit of "its who you know" Kerry had organised that she and I could get a private after hours tour of Fox Studios - Fox dont do public tours at all so this was a pretty cool thing. We saw the offices of A Family Guy - met some of the artists, and then went for a drive and walk through the main lot. - In the words of Cameron and Matthew - WAY COOL!!!- To see the bungalows where the old stars ( Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe etc ) lived in while they were filming on the lots, to see the actual buildings that the movies were filmed in way back as far as 1930 - that was just a wonderful opportunity.
We even went and saw the interior of one of the sets ( of a TV show that Im not familiar with) .
Dinner was at Factors Famous Deli - All in all a great day - full of Hollywood fun
