Since Ive been visiting the USA I seem to have become a bit addicted to makeup - well I dont know that its the actual makeup but maybe its the bargain prices that you can get it for in the US.
For example I discovered on my first trip that LOreal made a mineral powder style foundation , and I found that it was the best foundation I had ever tried. I got 2 pots for less than $20 US on sale - not long after it became available here in NZ - for a cool $48 a pot!!!!. Of course I buy some more every time I go over now - but its not just the foundation. I happen to like Revlon Colorstay Lipsticks which run around $28 each here but you can usually find them for less than $10 in the USA.
Discovering ULTA was so exciting. Its a bit like a Cosmetic Super Warehouse!! Its not just that they have such a huge range - they have the most incredible special deals - things like - buy 2 get one free, and spend $12 and get a free gift worth $50 ( - that was a Revlon deal actually - I got 3 lipsticks for around $18 and then got a free tote bag as well .
Then there was the spring makeup pack that was free with a purchase - it included a nice cosmetic bag with a couple of lipsticks, some eyeshadows, eye and lip pencil and a set of brushes - all for buying 2 bath gels which were on sale anyway!!
There are deals like this happening every week - Im so jealous that we dont have a similar store here - mind you I think my wallet would be much slimmer if we did!!
I think we're all suckers for a bargain - a good excuse to keep going back - as if you needed one.
